چکیده

We consider electron–electron interaction effects in quantum point contacts on the first quantization plateau, taking into account all scattering processes. We compute the low-temperature linear and nonlinear conductance, shot noise and thermopower, by perturbation theory and a self-consistent nonperturbative method. On the conductance plateau, the low-temperature corrections are solely due to momentum-nonconserving processes that change the relative number of leftand right-moving electrons. This leads to a suppression of the conductance for increasing temperature or voltage. The size of the suppression is estimated for a realistic saddle-point potential, and is largest in the beginning of the conductance plateau. For large magnetic field, interaction effects are strongly suppressed by the Pauli principle, and hence the first spinsplit conductance plateau has a much weaker interaction correction. For the nonperturbative calculations, we use a self-consistent nonequilibrium Green’s function approach, which suggests that the conductance saturates at elevated temperatures. These results are consistent with many experimental observations related to the so-called 0.7 anomaly. 5 Author to whom any correspondence should be addressed. Bias-Induced Optical Absorption of Current Carrying Two-Orbital Quantum Dot with Strong Electron-Phonon Interaction (Polaron Regime)

The one photon absorption (OPA) cross section of a current carrying two-orbital quantum dot (QD) with strong electron-phonon interaction (polaron regime) is considered. Using the self-consistent non-equilibrium Hartree-Fock (HF) approximation, we determine the dependence of OPA cross section on the applied bias voltage, the strength of effective electron-electron interaction, and level spacing ...

Implication of Quantum Effects on Non-Linear Propagation of Electron Plasma Solitons

We have studied the electron exchange-correlation effect on thecharacteristics of the two-component unmagnetized dense quantum plasma withstreaming motion. For this purpose, we have used the quantum hydrodynamic model(including the effects of a quantum statistical Fermi electron temperature) for studyingthe propagation of an electrostatic electron plasma waves in such th...

Correlated Electron Transport in One-dimensional Mesoscopic Conductors

Mesoscopic systems have emerged as a result of advanced microfabrication processing. These systems provide a new playground where tailor-made structures are available. This enables the study of quantum phenomena due to dimensional confinement and manipulation of system geometries. Two specific systems are investigated in this dissertation: single-walled carbon nanotubes and quantum point contac...

Effects of structure and number of Heteroatom on the π-π stacking interactions of benzene with N-substituted coronenes: A theoretical study

Stability of the π-π stacking interactions in the Ben||N-substituted-coronene complexes was studied using the computational quantum chemistry methods (where Ben is benzene and || denotes π-π stacking interaction, and N-substituted-coronene is coronene molecule which substituted with different number of N atoms). The results reveal simultaneous effects of structure and number of Heteroatom on th...

Laterally defined freely suspended quantum dots in GaAs/AlGaAs heterostructures.

Free-standing beams containing a two-dimensional electron system are shaped from a GaAs/AlGaAs heterostructure. Quantum point contacts and (double) quantum dots are laterally defined using metal top gates. We investigate the electronic properties of these nanostructures by transport spectroscopy. Tunable localized electron states in freely suspended nanostructures are a promising tool to invest...
